Shri Mataji, the founder of Sahaja Yoga, and her family shared a very close and respectful friendship with Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of India. Shri Mataji’s husband, Sir C.P. Srivastava, served as his secretary.

Shri Mataji always spoke about Shastri with great affection as a highly realized soul – meaning his Kundalini was awakened and he had reached a very high inner state, which expressed itself how he cared for people and his country.
Sir C.P. said about him:
“People say that he was very, very respectful to civil servants. And the answer I got was, ‘Mr. Shastri was respectful to every human being.’
What a wonderful quality it is. I’m not aware of any individual, in politics at least, about whom you can truthfully say that he’s respectful to every human being.”
When you listen to Shastri ji speak, you can feel how different he is from other leaders and politicians. There is something special about him – a simplicity, a natural humbleness, and a pure heart.

In Sahaja Yoga meditation, this quality of humble and benevolent leadership is connected to the heart chakra, on the right side. It is not only about people in government. It applies to every role in life where we take a leading position—whether in a family, a workplace, or any responsibility we carry.
When the Kundalini is awakened and the qualities within our chakras begin to manifest, they naturally start to show. We don’t try to become something. We simply become – the more our chakras open out and their qualities start manifesting.
Imagine a world where we would have such benevolent leaders—in governments and in everyday life.
Mahatma Gandhi once said:
“If you want to see a change in this world, be the change.”
So this is an invitation to awaken your Kundalini (if you have not received it, yet) and to explore the qualities of beneficial leadership within you.

The more we give vibrations to our right heart (left hand on the right side of your heart chakra, right hand palm open on the lap, meditate in that position for some time) and ask our Mother Kundalini for these qualities, the more these qualities of beneficial leadership begin to manifest – not only in ourselves, but also in our countries and in the world.
