The Way to Self-Realisation – the Knowledge of the Spirit
“So first of all before doing any work, creating anything, one must measure up the amount of joy one has received, the blessings one has received from the Deva, and then recreate with that consciousness.
With that awareness you will find your creation will be very beautiful, and we have to bring the work to a new method of creativity where there is exuberance, exuberance of joy and of Divine aesthetics.
Shri Mataji, 1985-0805
So make the best of all disappointments. If there is a disappointment, just smile at it and know it is for your good, to discover something new, to find out something better.
Shri Mataji, 1991-0804

A man who is weak cannot love. Only a strong person can love. If you talk of love first of all see whether you are strong enough to love or not.
Loving is not an easy thing, even carnal love, even loving your beloved of in the ordinary sense. It’s not an easy thing. You have to have a very strong moral concept, otherwise every third minute people start changing their loves. That kind of a love has no meaning.
You have to have very firm ideas. Not only ideas in your brain but built within you.

Have you ever had this experience? You decided – full of enthusiasm – that meditation should be a part of your life, you were all geared up to meditate yourself into the flow state where every form of stress would drip off like water from a lotus leaf, where you would float through the day in a state of clarity and ecstatic joy. And then you were sitting there, the head full of thoughts, the peace not coming, and after trying one or two times more you gave up and thought: “Seems that meditation is not for me…”
Sahaja Yoga Meditation provides exactly that because its founder, Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, found out how to awaken the Kundalini in everyone of us which was something impossible up to then!
Imagine this! People had to lead an ascetic life, give up everything and then still more often than not they did not even reach this state! And we can have it right in our living room today because of the amazing work of Shri Mataji!
Kundalini Awakening is the secret why Sahaja Yoga Meditation is so effective! And to top it: it is ALWAYS free!
The benefits of it would fill books after books (and if you want to learn more about it you can do so for free in all our meditation classes) but in this post I just want to talk about creating one tiny habit that will change your experience of meditation, no matter if you are just starting or you have been meditating already for a while.
Every new habit we create takes a bit of time to show the effects. That leads often to people giving up too soon! So – don’t give up! Do this for 1 minute every morning and evening. I promise you that the effects of it will be mind blowing!
Start your day and end your day with this:
[For this to work you need to have your Kundalini Awakening – a meditation that you can follow by clicking here or attend one of our meditation programs listed below]
When you wake up or you go to bed, sit comfortably on your bed:
That’s it. Too easy? But that is exactly what Sahaja Yoga Meditation is: easy, effortless and life changing.

Here is one immediate experience of one practitioner: she would often feel dizzy but as soon as she started to do this simple exercise the dizziness was gone. Another one suffered from depression and felt immediate changes after this really short exercise.
And that is just the beginning!
So join our meditations, deepen your meditations with this one simple trick! Because:
“Realization needs to happen. Without that, there is no point to anything. People are only wasting their time discussing such things.
Shri Mataji, 1977-1218
So divert your attention a little towards your joy. Now we need to be able to find that joy inside us.
And whenever you start getting negative thoughts you should say “no” to them. These bad habits should be given up.
It is within you that the waves of joy are rising.”

“Human beings must know that they have to still achieve their ultimate, ultimate. We are still living in the relative world, not the absolute world.
When we become the absolute, the cool breeze of the Holy Ghost starts flowing through our hands.
We start feeling around us the subtle energy which works out all the living things, the all-pervading power of God’s love. And we are amazed how these things – like flowers becoming a fruit – all these things happen, through this great power. Through science what we know is ribbit compared to the enormous that you have to know. But when you become the spirit, you know it.
But this knowledge is not mental. It is spiritual, meaning it is on your central nervous system. For example if you take an animal, or a dog say, or a horse and take it to a dirty lane, he will walk through. But for a human being, it is impossible to walk through that dirty lane. Now this we have achieved, this sensitivity we have achieved on our central nervous system.
Through the knowledge of Sahaja Yoga you become a master of yourself. You become your own guide and guru because you become the spirit. And then you have to just know how to use this power. And this knowledge is also available to you absolutely free.
So it is your own potential within you and as this potential is awakened you become a dynamic personality. And you become a compassionate personality. You have no fear of any kind. And you feel your freedom, completely. You no more yield to any temptations, or to any habits. And you enjoy your being as the spirit, in its own glory.”
Shri Mataji, 1985-0126

When I was first guided through the meditation to awaken the Kundalini there was one affirmation in particular that I liked.
“I am my own Master.”
“You become your own master. You see, supposing you are holding a snake in your hand and I say, “You have a snake in your hand” and there is darkness – you will say, “Alright. I’m having it.” Because if you say to human beings, “Don’t do something.” they’ll definitely do it.
So best is to put on the light. Let them see the snake in their hand. They’ll just throw it away.It all automatically works out. I don’t have to tell you anything. You become responsible for yourself.”
Shri Mataji, 1988-0519
My first reaction was: “Oh great! I am my own master! That means I can do whatever I want!”
But… you know… while it sounds so easy it might not be exactly very helpful because there will be no outside force to push you (no guru who sends you into the cold mountains to freeze the ego out of your body), nobody to threaten you with hellfire if you do not follow (and makes you sweat fears and anxieties… yikes!!!…), no charges of huge amounts of money at every step you take (give us more money so that you can go really really deep… because only when you pay you pay attention)…
So, suddenly you are responsible to guide yourself and you may find that leading yourself can be tricky. Let me ask you – just out of curiosity: what type of a master would you be for yourself?
How would you lead yourself? Who is your “Inner Master”?
I hope your Inner Master leads you to the Awakening of your Kundalini at one of our daily mediations because:
“The third thing that happens to you apart from your awareness becoming the truth, the complete knowledge, you become the source of joy.
Shri Mataji, 1985-0530
Not that you only receive the joy but you become the source of joy, the source of bliss and the source of peace.
Wherever such a person goes, it just sooths.”
