In India this day is celebrated as Makar Sankranti.
“Makar Sankranti indicates that from this day the Sun will get warmer and warmer. The heat of the Sun is beneficial for mankind. All our movements depend on this heat. But the impact of the heat could also excite Anger in us. That is the reason that on this day we eat Jaggery (Gud) so that we become soft spoken. Because of the warmth of the Sun all vegetations and wealth grows on the earth. Fruits and vegetables are offered to the Goddess on this day to invoke Her blessings. By the blessings of the Adi Shakti the Earth element gets calmed down and human being thrives. The festival of Sankranti has cultural significance too. It is celebrated all over the country with joy and gaiety. It is celebrated in some other countries also but it has special significance in India.” ” This is what is today’s day – is a great day for us to change, because the Sun has changed its mood now. Sun is coming this side. So let us welcome the Sun, coming to the North now, this way. And for Australians to say that though the Sun has gone, let us establish the Sun, the domain of Sun, within ourselves.
Though in India the heat is too much, still people are waiting for this time to come in and they celebrate it with such a warm heart. At this time it is said that they give you this sesame seed and the sugar to eat, but now you must speak in a sweet manner.

Warmth of the Sun represents the Warmth of God’s Love.
This is the reason why we celebrate this festival giving you some sort of a sweet made out of sesame seeds. Sesame seeds are given because they are also heat-giving and now as we are coming from the cold, we come to the hot season in a way, hotter season, so to prepare you with that warmth of the Sun these special things are made out of the seed of sesame to represent the oncoming warmth and the warmth of the Sun. – Shri Mataji, 1987-0114

Have you ever wondered why everything related to Life seems to move in a spiral way? It seems like a cosmic dance of which we are a part of, spinning and moving along from atoms to galaxies and our human awareness, too.
“Every new year comes, because we have to take to something that is new. It has been so arranged that the sun has to move for 365 days and again a new year has to come. Actually the whole solar system is moving in a spiral way. So, there is definitely a higher, higher state of this solar system. Every year it is rising higher in a spiral way. So it is not only that it is because 365 days have passed, but because it has moved a step forward higher than what it was.
Now we can see, that in awareness, human beings have definitely risen much higher than what they were, say, about 2000 years back.”

Getting up for the 5 am morning meditation every day in the past week has brought an amazing change!!! All thanks to my meditation buddy and best friend who asked if I would like to meditate together every morning!!
All the motivation was there but somehow the mornings came and went and I could not get myself out of bed.
That changed when my friend waited online to meditate together. I had no choice anymore!! 😄 And I feel so happy about it!!! Because after only one week I feel a tremendous change!!!
All those who practice Sahaja Yoga Meditation have experienced the benefits of early morning meditations.
👉 Starting from 4 am on there are very special rays or vibrations that act only at that time of the day. There is no other time of the day that is that powerful, healing and nourishing !!! And wow, can I feel the difference!!!
👉 Interestingly, although the sleep time seems short I am full of energy throughout the day!! Yeahhhh!!! A proven method to feel energized and dynamic!!! No additional cups of coffee needed anymore!!! 💪
👉 My vibratory awareness has reached a new level – it is much sharper and clear-cut! Vibratory awareness allows you to feel the state of your own subtle system, to understand what and why there is a problem, to find out how to clear it, and on top of it you can feel all of it for other people, too! Amazing?? Totally!!!!!
👉 It is soooo much easier to go into a state of inner silence where the mind is calm and peaceful and all worries and anxieties dissolve. Turning off the inner chatter-box whenever I want – it has been a long time!!! So, morning meditation it is!!! 😇
It is of course not the first time I have experienced the difference! But the problem is that we know what is good for us but sometimes we do not do what we should… sounds familiar?
Partner up with someone was THE solution for me – it is also so much more fun!!! And no escape possible 😄… or wanted…

Shri Mataji’s family was very close to Mahatma Gandhi and participated in the freedom fight. Here is a story of that time (wouldn’t it be amazing to have such leaders in every country?):
Shri Mataji was once with Mahatma Gandhi when it was time for a meal. The servant came in and Gandhi gave him the key of a cupboard, and Gandhi looked to see how many people were staying for lunch, and then measured out one scoop of rice for each person. Someone asked why he was doing this, because he was not short of food.
‘This is the life blood of my country, I cannot waste it,’ he said.
